New Delhi/Maputo, Apr 14 (FN Agency) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday took a ride in a train manufactured in India during his visit to the Mozambican capital, and also discussed about India’s partnership in helping expand the train networks, electric mobility and waterways connectivity.In tweets, he said that he took a train ride along with Mozambican Transport Minister Mateus Magala, and appreciated RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Service Ltd) CMD Rahul Mithal for joining in. “Took a ride in a ‘Made in India’ train from Maputo to Machava with Mozambican Transport Minister Mateus Magala.“Appreciate CMD RITES Rahul Mithal joining us on the journey.” “A great green transport conversation with Mozambican Minister of Transport &Communication and Chairman, Mozambican Port & Rail Authority Mateus Magala. “Talked about expanding train networks, electric mobility & waterways connectivity. India is a reliable partner in this regard,” he said.
Earlier, after his meeting with National Assembly Speaker Esperança Bias, EAM said that the two sides reviewed their political and economic cooperation. He said that the Mozambican leader “urged me to work towards greater expansion of our bilateral partnership, so over the next two days that is exactly what I will be doing”. “As two democracies it is very important for us to have regular parliamentary exchanges, and its very appropriate that I begin my visit by coming to the national assembly,” he added. “So it’s a very good start to the visit, and I’m sure that over the next few days there will be many more important conversations.” EAM Jaishankar is visiting Mozambique, a country on the southeast coast of Africa, from April 13-15. During the visit, EAM is to call on the top leadership and also co-chair the 5th Session of the Joint Commission Meeting with Mozambican Foreign Minister Veronica Macamo.He is also expected to meet several other Ministers and also interact with the Indian diaspora based in Mozambique. He arrived in Maputo from the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, where he made a short stop-over on his way from Uganda, which was the first leg of his official visit.
