New Delhi, Apr 10 (Agency) The Congress on Monday accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of looking for a new snooping spyware which it claimed is an alternative to Pegasus. Addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters, party’s Chairman of Media and Publicity Department Pawan Khera said, “The government with minimum governance, maximum surveillance is looking for a new spyware in the market since Pegasus became infamous.” “Cognyte spyware is an alternative to Pegasus which is being brought to the country. It will cost Rs 986 crore to buy this spyware,” Khera said attacking the ruling dispensation. In a veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he said, “The two spies of the country do not trust anyone. So, they are spending crores of rupees of taxpayers in buying spyware. They are doing this because the ‘emperor’ is afraid that his hollow palace of lies might collapse from one of our truths.”
“It has become a compulsion of the Modi government to snoop on the Opposition by using government machinery and funds to save its best friend,” Khera said in an apparent reference to billionaire buisnessman Gautam Adani. Referring to the Adani issue, he said, “We (Opposition) will keep on continuing our demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).” The Hindenburg Research report alleged the Adani Group had engaged in stock manipulation and accounting fraud schemes over the course of decades.
