New Delhi, Mar 21 (Agency) A Delhi Court adjourned for March 24 time for filing written submission of CBI in the bail application of Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia arrested on the allegations of corruption in Delhi Liquor policy case. CBI Special Judge MK Nagpal after hearing arguments on behalf of Central Bureau of Investigation and Defence Counsel adjourned the same for March 24 for filing the written submission. Counsel for Sisodia submitted in Court that Sisodia has always cooperated with the Investigating Agency and no incriminating material was found against him during the searches.
He said there is no evidence that applicant Sisodia influenced the witnesses except a vague claim that he is in a position to influence the witnesses. He further submitted that not a single penny has been traced from Sisodia. He further submitted that custodial interrogation of Sisodia is no more required and he is not a flight risk so no fruitful purpose would be serve by keeping him behind the bar. He is ready to abide all the terms and conditions leveled by the court, if granted bail. Government Counsel for CBI opposed the bail application of Sisodia by submitting before the Court that in this matter phones were frequently changed by Manish Sisodia is not an innocent act but the same was done for the destruction of evidence. He said if bail granted he may definitely in a position to destroy the evidence in Excise policy. So the bail application may kindly be dismissed being devoid of any merit. Former Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Leader Manish Sisodia moved the another bail application in Enforcement Directorate’s case today.
Special Judge MK Nagpal after hearing the plea issued notice to Enforcement Directorate (ED) and listed the bail application in ED case for hearing on March, 25. After ending of the the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) custody, Sisodia is presently in the Enforcement Directorate’s 5 days custody till March, 22 and in judicial custody till April 03 in CBI’s case. Sisodia was arrested by CBI on February, 26 after about eight hours of questioning on various aspects of the excise policy for 2021-22. According to Investigating Agency the excise policy was suffered from irregularities in its formulation and implementation.
