New Delhi, Mar 21 (Bureau) Narendra Modi government’s inspiration for infusing national awakening stems from the life and actions of Arya Samaj founder Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, Union Home and Cooperatives Minister Amit Shah said here on Tuesday. The Union Home Minister was speaking at the foundation day of Arya Samaj at the Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi. Shah exhorted the Arya Samaj to continue working towards India’s development. During the function the organisation adopted four proposals, including committing to use and consumption of millets across its kitchens, hostels, orphanages, schools, colleges and associated organizations. As per the statement, it has also committed to promote the use of renewable energy across its offices.
The Arya Samaj also condemned the no-child policy being promoted by some social and non-governmental groups. As part of its foundation day celebrations, the Arya Samaj will hold nation-wide functions over the next two years. Speaking on the occasion, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, who presided over the program, said, “India is progressing and developing fast and the Arya Samaj supports the government in this endeavour”. Representatives of all organizations under the Arya Samaj, including the DAV and youth wings were present at the function. Arya Samaj’s decision to use and consume millets follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s suggestion made on February 12 while inaugurating a program in observance of the 200th birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati.
Arya Samaj will undertake mass awareness and door-to-door campaigns, besides sensitizing schools and universities over its social programs in the next few months. Vinay Arya, General Secretary, Delhi Arya Pratinidhi Sabha, said, “the organization expresses gratitude to the Government of India’s commitment in supporting the two-year-long celebrations”.
