State Government employees strike enters second day

Chhatrapati, Mar 15 (Agency) Maharashtra state government employees statewide strike for implementation of Old Pension Scheme(OPS) entered the second day on Wednesday, the agitation has affected works in different departments including health services at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). As their demands were not met by the state government, the government employees have decided to continue the strike. Meanwhile, the common people are being hit hard due to this strike. Most adversely affected due to this are government hospitals. Nurses, ward boys and other employees of government hospitals also participated in the strike.

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar’s Government Ghati Hospital has cancelled scheduled surgeries on the first day.Most of the employees of GMCH also went on strike, the results are being seen due to this, the health system in the GMCH has collapsed. At present only emergency treatment is being done. The impact of the government employees’ strike is felt most in the health department in rural areas also. Employees of primary health centers in the district have gone on strike, and no alternative arrangements have been made in their place. Therefore, people in rural areas now have to go to private hospitals for treatment.
