Hyderabad, Mar 11 (FN Agency) COVID-19 has caused a lot of health issues in the long run and one of the most uncommon side effects is ‘ Pelvic Hip’ said Dr. Srinivas Kasha, the organizing secretary of the Telangana Orthopedic Surgeons Association (TOSA) here on Saturday. Addressing the ongoing 3-day annual conference of TOSA , which will conclude tomorrow, here, Dr Srinivas explained, “latest evidence shows this syndrome can lead to autoimmune reactions, including reactive arthritis. The pain usually starts in front of the thigh, or sometimes even in the knee. This could be due to the changes in the hip called avascular necrosis”. The early signs are pain and stiffness of the hip. The patient finds it difficult to stand up and climb stairs, he said.
“This is the 8th time we are conducting this conference post-bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana , he said the theme of the conference is “Excellence with evidence and expertise”. The syllabus in medical colleges is outdated and now has to be backed by scientific temper, said Dr Srinivas. Medical Science is the fastest in the evolving scene. We were clueless during the lockdown but now, thanks to innovative medicines and surgical methods that have helped us to keep pace with the problems of patients seeking treatment and tackle cases on a priority basis, he said. The highlights of the conference were, 60 stalls showcasing medical and surgical merchandise, 9 workshops conducted in various specialties such as Knee Arthroplasty, Non-Union Long Bones, Wrist and hand injuries, Foot and Ankles injuries, he explained. More than 1000 delegates participated in the conference comprising teachers, academicians, experts, learning juniors, and supportive surgical medicals, he added..
