EAM meets visiting Fijian Dy PM, discusses upcoming World Hindi Conference

New Delhi, Feb 8 (FN Agency) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday had a meeting with visiting Fijian Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad during which they discussed the historical people-to-people ties between the two nations and also exchanged views on the Indo-Pacific. The meeting comes ahead of the 12th World Hindi Conference being held in Fiji next week. The EAM in tweets said “A good meeting with Deputy Prime Minister @bimanprasad of @FijiGovernment today. “Discussed #IndiaFiji historical people to people ties, our development cooperation and collaboration at multilateral forums. Also exchanged views on the Indo-Pacific.” In a tweet in Hindi, the EAM said that the two sides also discussed the 12th World Hindi Conference to be held in Fiji from February 15-17. The theme of the Conference is “Hindi: From Traditional Knowledge to Artificial Intelligence”.

The website and logo for the Conference were launched in October 2022 in New Delhi. The Fijian Deputy PM in a tweet thanked EAM Jaishankar for the meeting, and said the two sides held fruitful discussions on their development cooperation. “Thank you @DrSJaishankar for a very good meeting and for a fruitful discussion on our development cooperation and on a range of other issues. We look forward to welcoming you to Fiji for the World Hindi Conference.” Earlier, Minister of State for External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh held a bilateral meeting with the visiting Fijian leader. “Delighted to meet @FijiGovernment Deputy Prime Minister @bimanprasad. Productive discussion on deepening our long-standing and close cooperation with Fiji,” the MoS posted.
