Bribery case : ACB court sentences VRO to 3 years RI

Hyderabad, Feb 1 (Agency) Special Judge Trial for SPE & ACB cases Court, Karimnagar P Laxmi Kumari on Tuesday sentenced Pamral Madhusudhan Rao, Village Revenue Officer (VRO) to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) in a bribery case. The Judge slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on the VRO, who worked in Bavpet Village of Elkathurthi Mandal in Karimnagar District, u/s 7 & 13 (1) (d) r/w 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988. In default of the payment of the fine amount, the accused shall undergo a simple imprisonment for a period of three months.

Further, the Judge also sentenced the Accused Officer (AO) to undergo a Rigorous Imprisonment for a period of four years and also to pay a fine of Rs.7,000 for the offence punishable U/s 13(1) (d) r/w 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and in default of the payment of the fine amount, he shall undergo a simple imprisonment for a period of four months. Earlier, Madhusudhan Rao was arrested by the ACB when he demanded and accepted an amount of Rs 1,500 as bribe from the complainant for showing an official favour, to issue title deeds, a ACB release said here on Wednesday.
