Kerala breaks Guinness record for goals scored

Malappuram Jan 11 (Representative) Kerala set a Guinness world record by kicking 4500 penalty shots within 12 hours under the ‘Dream goal Penalty shootout’ programme organized by the Kerala Sports Department at Manjeri Payyanad stadium on Tuesday night. The world record was achieved by Kerala through Malappuram district after breaking Germany’s record of 2500 goals within 12 hours. The event also won the Guinness World Record Certificate. Kerala Sports Minister V Abdu Rahiman received the Certificate from concerned authority representatives after the shoot out section.

All the goals were kicked in between 0700 to 1900 hrs and the inaugural kick was taken by former Indian Footballer U Sharaf Ali and the 4500th kick was taken by Kerala Sports Minister V Abu Rahiman. School and College students and people from all walks of life took part in the event. Sports department Director Prem Krishnan S, district sports council president V P Anil Kumar, U Latheef, MLA, District Collector V R Prem Kumar, People representatives, Guinness World Record authorized person Krishinath and Guinness Coordinator Shailaja Gopinath were also present.
