Opposition trying to create controversies over NITI Ayog data: Mauvin Godinho

New Delhi, Nov 12 (Agency) The BJP government in Goa on Saturday accused opposition of selectively choosing NITI Ayog data to tarnish its image. “Attempts are being made to create controversies by selectively choosing data released by NITI Ayog,” Goa Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho told reporters in the city. He claimed that as per the same NITI Ayog data, the state has scored 100 percent in clean water and sanitation, is front runner in poverty eradication has scored well in health and wellness, economic growth, industry innovation and infrastructure and reducing inequalities.

“No one can say that there is no development in Goa. It is the development because of which BJP has been winning elections after elections in the state. People of Goa have brought BJP at power for development,” the minister said. Meanwhile, BJP Spokesperson Savio Rodrigues said the data on unemployment put out by NITI Aayog must be corrected if it is wrong and correct data should be put out. “The question on NitiAayog Goa data controversy is whether NitiAayog data is factually wrong or interpreted wrongly.

If it is wrong then Goa government must have it corrected & @NITIAayog must put out the correct data on the unemployment in Goa. Correct data helps plan better,” Rodrigues tweeted. Earlier in the day Goa Forward Party President Vijay Sardesai had slammed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for refuting NITI Ayog data on unemployment in the state and had demanded his resignation.
