India’s factory output grows 3.1 pc in September

New Delhi, Nov 11 (Agency) India’s industrial output grew 3.1% year-on-year in September, showed the data released by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on Friday. The industrial output measured by Index of Industrial Production (IIP) had increased 4.4% in September, 2021. According to MoSPI data, manufacturing sector recorded 1.8% growth in September 2022.

Mining and electricity sector outputs registered 4.6% and 11.6% year- on-year growth respectively in September. “A revival of 3.1% in Industrial production growth is a strong indication of improving output and demand condition in the economy. The boost to industrial production in September is coming from a significant growth in capital and infrastructure output. However, revival in manufacturing output is moderate and is yet to a show significant recovery,” said Vivek Rathi, Director-Research, Knight Frank India.
