Mumbai, Sep 15 (FN Agency) The political atmosphere in Maharashtra is boil from last few days as Vedanta-Foxconn’s Rs 1.5 lakh crore project has gone to Gujarat. The opposition tried to create a dilemma for the ruling government by alleging that 1 lakh jobs were lost in the state due to this project. But in the same allegation, Vedanta chairman Anil Agarwal has made a big announcement and said in his tweets that Vedanta-Foxconn affiliate project will be set up in Maharashtra only. The Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis thanked Vedanta Chairman for his major announcement through his series of tweets.Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal has said that Vedanta-Foxconn is commercially evaluating the site for a multi-billion dollar investment. It is a scientific and economic process that takes many years. We started it about 2 years ago.
In order to achieve our objective, our team of internal and external professional agencies in some states like Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and others places. We have been in discussions with each of these governments as well as the central government for the past 2 years and have received good support from them, he said in his tweets message.A few months ago we decided to take this project to Gujarat as it fulfilled our expectations. But in a meeting with the Maharashtra leadership in July, he tried hard to outbid other states with competitive offers. But as we wanted to start from one place, we chose Gujarat based on professional and independent advice. This multi-billion dollar long-term investment will change the direction of Indian electronics. We will build an ecosystem across India and are fully committed to invest in Maharashtra as well, he said.
Stating that Maharashtra will be our key to further integration in our Gujarat JV, he made it clear that the Vedanta-Foxconn affiliate will be set up in Maharashtra. Fadnavis tweeted, that “I am deeply grateful to Anil Agarwal for deciding to choose Maharashtra for the Vedanta-Foxconn affiliate project. He expressed confidence that we will always remain competitive and business friendly to attract investment in Maharashtra, Fadnavis said in his tweets. But I regret that very wrong, negative and baseless claims are being made just for political selfishness. But by doing so they are only demonstrating their inefficiency, Fadnavis said while attacking to opposition. When the investment of 3.5 lakh crore rupees in Maharashtra is coming through the refinery, who opposed it, who delayed this project? This is my question to these leaders and said that Focus on self-efficacy first, not restlessness and negativity, he added while heating out at opponents.
