Bangladesh-India friendly relations start new horizon: Hasina

Dhaka, Sep 14 (Agency) Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said that the new horizon of friendly relations between Bangladesh and India has started with her recent visit and added that India assured assistance to Bangladesh to solve the energy crisis. The Prime Minister said this at the press conference organised about her recent visit to India. The press conference was held at Ganabhaban, the residence of the Prime Minister. The press conference is being broadcast live on Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and private television. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went on a four-day state visit to India on September 5.

During the visit, Hasina held a bilateral and private meeting with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It discussed issues related to security cooperation, investment, trade relations, cooperation in power and energy sectors, common river water distribution, water resource management, border management, drug smuggling and human trafficking prevention. Seven Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between Bangladesh and India during her visit. After signing the memorandum, the two prime ministers issued a joint statement. After completing the visit, the Prime Minister returned to the country on the night of September 8.
