Jodhpur, Sep 11 (Agency) Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, and said he was on ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ wearing foreign made t-shirt. Making a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi while addressing BJP booth-level workers in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur, Shah said that Rahul Gandhi has now embarked on the Bharat Jodo Yatra. “Now Rahul Baba has embarked on a foot march to unite India but he is seen wearing a foreign t-shirt,” Shah said.” I want to remind all the people of Congress party and Rahul Gandhi a sentence of his speech given in Parliament in which Rahul Gandhi said that India is not a nation… Rahul Gandhi, in which book have you read that India is not a nation?” said Shah.
“Bharatvarsh is a nation for whose honor and glory lakhs of people have irrigated this land with their blood, it is a nation where thousands of sisters had committed Jauhar for their honor and self-respect of the country. Rahul Gandhi needs to read the history of India before the Bharat Jodo Yatra,” he said. Addressing the rally in Jodhpur, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s turf, as he said that Congress now has government only in two states- Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. “If BJP government comes to power in these two states in 2023, Congress would be left with nothing,” he said, appealing to people to vote for the BJP in the next assembly polls. “Would you hoist the saffron flag in the next election?” Shah said. The BJP has alleged Rahul Gandhi was wearing a t-shirt worth Rs. 41,000 from British luxury brand Burberry.
Congress General Secretary Communication Jairam Ramesh launched a counter attack at the BJP and said, “The people who make the flag out of Chinese cloth; whose son refuses to hold the tricolor; Whose sire wears glasses of Italy; With what mouth do they comment on the clothes of others? “Trinamool Congress MP Mohua Moitra, who was also in the middle of a controversy recently for having an expensive bag during a debate on price rise in Lok Sabha also defended the Congress leader. “Seriously advise BJP to not cross line & comment on Opposition’s personal clothes & belongings. Remember if we start doing the same with watches, pens, shoes, rings & clothes BJP MPs wear, you’ll rue the day you started this game,” she said in a tweet. The Bharat Jodo Yatra was launched at Kanyakumari on September 7, and the foot march started from the morning of September 8.The Yatra will cover a distance of 3500 kilometres, crossing 12 states and two union territories, over a period of around five months.
