CBI refutes Manish Sisodia’s claims

New Delhi, Sep 5 (Bureau) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday refuted claims of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia that Jitendra Kumar, Deputy Legal Advisor of the people committed suicide because he was pressurised to make a strong false case against him, the probe agency statement said. CBI said on Monday a press conference held by Manish Sisodia, one of the FIR-named accused in Case RC No. 53/2022 pertaining to Delhi Excise Policy, stated that Jitendra Kumar, Deputy Legal Advisor in CBI committed suicide because he was pressurized to make a strong false case against him. CBI strongly refuted this mischievous and misleading statement by Sisodia.

It is clarified that the officer late Jitendra Kumar was in no way connected with the investigation of this case. He was Deputy Legal Advisor in-charge of prosecution, in which capacity he was supervising prosecutors who were conducting the trial of already chargesheeted cases in Delhi, claimed CBI. Further, as per the Delhi Police, which has been conducting inquest into the death, the officer has not held anyone responsible for his death in his suicide note, claimed CBI. The Excise policy case has been under investigation. As such no clean chit has been given to any of the accused. The mischievous and misleading statement of Sisodia was an attempt to divert attention from the ongoing investigation in Delhi Excise Policy case, and also amounting to interference in the inquest proceedings into the death of the officer, it added.
