New Delhi, Aug 29 (Agency) The Congress on Monday launched a fresh attack at the Narendra Modi-led government over price rise and unemployment, and claimed that ‘wrong’ economic policies of the ruling dispensation were responsible for the same. “The Modi government’s record over the last 8 years speaks for itself. It only misled the people. The government’s wrong economic policies are responsible for price rise and unemployment in India,” Congress national spokesperson Gourav Vallabh said at the Delhi Congress office as part of the party’s nationwide press conference over inflation ahead of the ‘Mehangai Par Halla Bol’ rally here on September 4.
Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “PM Modi has failed to control price rise. In the last eight years, his misguided policies and deceitfulness have in fact exacerbated the suffering of the people.” The Modi government’s desperation to fill its coffers at all costs has led it to impose exorbitant fuel taxes that has further hurt Indian consumers, he asserted. “The global prices of petrol, diesel and LPG were much higher in 2013-14 as compared to 2021-22. But consumers are paying much more today for a litre of fuel or an LPG cylinder than they did during the rule of the Congress-led UPA government,’ Vallabh said. Talking about the ‘Mehangai Par Halla Bol’ rally, the Congress spokesperson said, “Congress will hold a historic rally at the Ramlila Ground on September 4 to protest against back-breaking price rise and unemployment that has destroyed the lives of the middle class and the lower class people. The unemployment has reached a 45-year high of 42 per cent.” He also said that those who cannot personally attend can give a missed call on Mobile no 9625777907 to support the rally.
