BJP Spokesperson writes to Mah CM Shinde, Deputy CM Fadnavis in concessions of tax

Pune, Aug 25 (FN Agency) Maharashtra BJP Spokesperson Sandeep Khardekar on Wednesday writes letters to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his Deputy Devendra Fadnavis regarding the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government’s decision to cancel the 40 percent income tax concession given to Pune residents. Khardekar said that Pune Municipal Commissioner’s letter last year, regarding retention of 40 percent discount without diluting the resolution of the main meeting of Pune Municipal Corporation which was imposed in 1970. Pursuant to the Resolution in 1970, passed by the Municipal Corporation of Pune, while determining the taxable amount, it was decided to give 15 percent discount instead of 10 percent and to keep the rent of the premises occupied by the house owner at 60 percent of the reasonable rent. In accordance with the resolution, the municipal commissioner took action accordingly. However, the Public Accounts Committee objected to this concession and the Office of the Accountant General recommended canceling these concessions and collecting the tax from 2010/2011 (with retrospective effect).

Accordingly, the State Government on 28-05-2019, as per the instructions of the Accountant General, passed the resolution of 1970 and with retrospective effect 2010 , Ordered to cancel concessions and collect tax from 2011.Since this was unfair, the ruling BJP in Pune Municipal Corporation passed a resolution to cancel this order, but the state government suspended Municipal Municipal Corporation Resolution No. 320 dated 28-08-2019 on 17 September 2021.After this, in the last few days, the people of Pune have been receiving sms and notices of outstanding dues. (Most Pune residents have paid their income tax for 2022/2023 within 31st May.) Now the Pune residents, who are unaware of this government order, suddenly received notices from the municipality and thousands of Pune residents were shocked when they realized that their tax was arrears, said Khardekar. However, it is strongly demanded that the order of this unjust proceeding be suspended and the resolution of 3-4-1970 should be maintained and the people of Pune should be relieved from it, said Khardekar who is also the Chairman of Creative Foundation, an NGO working for the welfare of people in all sectors.
