Hyderabad, Aug 24 (FN Agency) Telangana State BJP (TSBJP) on Tuesday evening requested Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan to direct the Director General of Police (DGP) to allow the ongoing 3rd phase of ‘Praja Sangrama Yatra’ undertaken by the party president Bandi Sanjay Kumar and provide security. In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, a BJP delegation led by Party OBC Morcha National President K.Laxman, BJP National Vice President D K Aruna and National Executive Member G Vivek Venkata Swamy requested her to inquiry into the conspiracy to attack the Yatra by the ruling TRS party MLAs, MLCs at Jangaon on Tuesday. Besides urging probe into the brutal attack on the BJP workers by the police and TRS workers in Hyderabad on Monday, the delegation also requested the governor inquiry into the circumstances that led to the disruption of the Yatra and unwarranted arrest of Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the Karimnagar MP. The BJP undertaken the Yatra to expose the anti-people policies of the TRS government and to mobilize public opinion against its corrupt-despotic-dynastic rule, the delegation said and adding that the two phase of the yatra went on peacefully even though the TRS cadres tried to instigate its workers to attack the yatra.
The TRS workers attached the yatra in the Gadwal district during the second phase and the police here remained mute spectators. However, the third phase of the yatra began on August 2 at Yadadri, was also attacked at Devarauppala village in the Jangaon district. However, here too, the police either remained mute spectators or facitly supported the aggressors, the delegation said in their letter to the Governor. On the other hand on Monday, a few BJP Mahila Morcha workers planned a peaceful protest in front of TRS MLC Kavita’s hosue, who is facing allegations in the Delhi Gate Liquor scam that has rocked the nation. The purpose of the protest was to demand the resignation of Kavita for her alleged involvement in the liquor scam , but the police, supported by the ruling TRS goons, unleashed a brutal attack on the BJP workers in which many sustained severe injuries including women workers and over 28 leaders of the party have been remanded to judicial custody on false cases, the delegation pointed out.
Police in the morning arrested the TS BJP President , citing a possible attack by the TRS leaders on the yatra, the delegation said and adding that if the MLAs and MLCs have plans to attack the yatra, it is the primary responsibility of the police to take them into custody because they have malafide intention in gathering, but in this incident, it is clear evidence of the connivance of the police with the TRS government, the delegation stated. We have reports that instructions have gone from the CMO itself to attack the Yatra, the BJP delegation claimed in the letter and stated that the TRS government doesn’t want the Yatra to continue, which is evident. “ The Yatra has all the permissions and it is evident that the police are either helpless to protect the Yatra which has been happening democratically or that the police are hand in glove with the ruling party”, they said. In both cases, Telangana police have failed to discharge their constitutional responsibility, the delegation alleged. The helplessness of the police in the state points to the breakdown of constitutional machinery and under the circumstances, we have no option but to seek your intervention as the custodian of the constitution, the delegation added.
