Efforts being taken to harness the power of youth in sports: LG

Srinagar, Aug 23 (Agency) Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that efforts are being taken to harness the power of youth so they can unleash their full potential in the sporting arena. Speaking during the inauguration of the 28th National Masters Table Tennis Championship at the Indoor Stadium here, Lieutenant Governor said “our effort is to harness the power of youth so they can unleash their full potential in the sporting arena. “He said the Sports council has been making extraordinary efforts to create world class infrastructure, supporting athletes and coaches to deliver performance on national and the world stage.

Talking to media persons Sinha said a view of India is visible here in the Indoor Stadium as the 28th Table tennis National Championship commenced here today. Over thousand players and officials from 28 states and Union Territories are competing in the championship. He said 13 such events are going to be held by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports council and sports department in the Union Territory. He said for the past two to three years various young sports persons have enlightened the Jammu and Kashmir in the country and on the international level. “With these contestants the time to come when players from Jammu and Kashmir will further illuminate the name of the country on the international stage which will become an inspiration for other youth,” Sinha said.
