SKM to raise farmers’ issues: Rakesh Tikait

New Delhi, Aug 22 (Representative) Samyukt Kisan Morcha leader Rakesh Tikait on Monday alleged the Central government misguiding the farmers on Minimum Support Price (MSP) issue. Farmers will continue to raise their points till the issues don’t get resolved. At a seminar cum book launch of “The Future of the Farmers’ Movement in India” written by Ashok Dhawale at the Gandhi Peace Foundation here, Tikait said “We have won our first fight after farmers agitation Center had to repeal three new farm laws, now the battle is to be won on several issues like MSP, Electricity and withdrawal of the cases filed during the agitation and old aged pension for farmers.”

“This book tells about farmers’ agitation and its each and every important events and development of our over one year struggle against three new farm laws which were later repealed by the Central government,” Tikait added.“In the first time, a large number of women had taken part in the farmers’ agitation which was a good sign for us,” he added. “This book presents actual events of development about the farmers’ movement as the writer was part of the high level committee of the movement and an active member of it,” said Darshan Pal, leader of SKM. “Our movement has been continuing to raise farmers’ issues. We started our journey from holding agitation against three new farm laws and have been continuing for several other farmers’ demands that need to be fulfilled,” Darshan Pal added.
