Itanagar, Aug 21 (Agency) Arunachal Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Satish Golcha on Saturday said that the investigating officers have to prepare for curbing the ‘rising’ cyber crimes and financial fraud cases. He also underscored the need to upgrade one’s scientific investigation capabilities and said that “quality investigation should never be compromised as police is one of the agents to give justice to the victims”. The state’s top cop said that police officers should be friendly in nature and always be responsive to distress calls. “APP (Arunachal Pradesh Police) should inculcate positive attitude of public towards police through being accessible, emphatic listening to grievances placed by public, by spreading community policing,” said Golcha while chairing a crime review meeting at Ziro, the headquarters of Lower Subansiri district.
During the meeting, the DGP was apprised of the crime records, good work done by the district police especially in the NDPS cases, shortcomings of resources, etc through a power-point presentation. He also heard the grievances placed by the officers and the personnel and assured to look into the ‘genuine’ grievances. The DGP, who was on his maiden visit to Lower Subansiri district, instructed the district police to maintain proper records, and to follow the court trials and verdicts of the cases, while asserting that once the cases are charge-sheeted, conviction should be ensured. He further suggested that the district police should maintain Dossiers and history sheets of the habitual criminals and also stressed on the need for a robust criminal database. Citing the ‘cancerous’ issue of land encroachment, the DGP stressed on zero tolerance towards land encroachers in Police notified land and directed to start legal cases against the land encroachers. He also stressed to enhance the capacity of investigation to constabulary levels.
Golcha also informed that the Police Training Centre (PTC), Banderdewa will provide online training and refresher courses for skill enhancement of the police personnel. The DGP appreciated the district police for the recent crackdown on drug peddlers. This year, the district police seized more than 302 gram suspected heroin and cannabis weighing over 6 kg and arrested as many as 34 accused. He stated that APP has zero tolerance towards drug peddlers. Stating that the visit of the DGP has boosted the morale of the district police, the Superintendent of Police Dr Sachin Kumar Singhal vowed that the cops will adopt the instructions given by him with full dedication to fulfil the policing vision of the DGP.
