Mumbai, August 17 (Agency) The stock market remained firm for the fourth consecutive session on Wednesday, as the BSE Sensex spurted 417.92 pts to close at at 60,260.13 following gains in Telecom, Consumer Durables, Technology and IT stocks. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too moved up 119 pts at 17,944.25.The Sensex opened higher by 96 pts at 59,938.01. It rallied 481 pts at 60,323.25, the day’s high, before closing at 60,260.13, up 417.92 pts from its previous close. The Sensex registered the day’s high and low at 60,323.25 and 59,857.80 pts respectively.The Nifty recorded the day’s high and low at 17,965.95 and 17,833.35 ptsrespectively.
The sectoral indices like Telecom, Consumer Durable, Technology and IT stocks kept the rally intact today. In scrips, Bajaj Finserv was a star gainer, up 5.57 pc to Rs 16,800 followed by Bajaj finance by 3.03 pc to Rs 7506, Bharti Airtel by 2.86 pc to Rs 723.95 and Tech Mahindra by 2.52 pc to Rs 1105.The losers were M&M by 1.04 pc to Rs 1275, Maruti Suzuki by 0.66 pc to Rs 8940 and Ultracemco by 0.65 pc to Rs 6611. The Mid Cap rose by 0.64 pc and Small Cap by 0.53 pc. In 30 scrips, 23 advanced while 7 declined.
