Vigilance Department arrests two employees for taking money

Hamirpur (HP), July 28 (Bureau) A team of the Vigilance Department on Wednesday caught two employees of State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 9,600. Both have been arrested after registering a case under various sections. The accused have been identified as Sunny Kuber and Kapil Dev. Sunny Kuber is Junior Assistant (Clerk) and Kapil Dev Public Distribution Assistant in the godown located at Nadaun (Hamirpur) of State Civil Supplies Corporation.Ration is supplied to 43 fair price shops in Nadaun assembly constituency from the godown where these employees were serving.

For the supply of ration, the Food Civil Supplies Corporation gives the work of transportation of ration material on contract to private vehicles every year. It’s worth mentioning here that the Corporation had given the task of transporting food items to private vehicles. Truck operator Rajesh Kumar, in a complaint letter sent to the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Hamirpur, had alleged that those dealing with the supply work wanted money from him and accordingly a trap was laid and both were caught red handed, according to SP, Vigilance, Lal Man Sharma.

On the other hand, SP Vigilance Rahul Nath said that Vigilance has arrested both the employees by registering a case under various sections. They will be produced in Hamirpur court on Thursday, the SP added. Meanwhile, Sanjeev Verma, the Area Manager of the Corporation said that a report of arrest of two of its employees for allegedly taking bribes had been sent to the state government for further action at their end.To ensure that the supply of ration is not affected, new appointments have been made at Nadaun godown temporarily.
