Paris Olympic 2024 sports calendar released

Paris, July 26 (FN Agency) The Organising Committee has released sports competition calendar for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, with just over two years to go until the Games begin. In all, 329 events will take place across 762 sessions between July 24 and August 11. Team sports in the spotlight from July 24, the first matches of the men’s football tournament with no less than 8 matches throughout France and the festive atmosphere of rugby 7 for the first 12 matches of the tournament at the Stade de France.

July 27 will feature medal events in eight sports: cycling (women’s and men’s time trial), judo, fencing, diving, rugby, shooting, swimming and skateboarding. Notably, all the swimming and athletics finals will take place in the evening, from 8.30 pm (local time) for swimming (with the exception of the last day, with a 6.30 p.m. start), and from 7 pm for athletics. The women’s and men’s 100m freestyle finals, in Swimming, and the impressive silence of Paris La Défense Arena awaiting the start on July 31. The weekend (August 3 to 4) will also feature a busy line-up. Over those two days, medal events will take place in: tennis, table tennis, judo, fencing, athletics, archery, shooting, cycling, golf, equestrian, rowing, artistic gymnastics, badminton and swimming.

The 110m and 100m hurdles finals, in Athletics, at the Stade de France on August 8 from 7 p.m. for men; August 10 from 7 p.m. for women. The finals of the Handball tournaments, in the exceptional atmosphere of the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium in Lille and its 27,000 spectators: August 10 at 3 p.m. for women and the next day at 1:30 p.m. for men. The last day of the Games, August 11, will highlight women’s sport. Wrestling, weightlifting and track cycling will conclude with women’s events, while the women’s basketball final will also take place on this day. Then, only a few hours before the closing ceremony, for the first time since the introduction of the women’s marathon to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984, the women’s event, positioned the day after the men’s event, will conclude the Paris 2024 athletics programme.
