Delhi Police ASI arrested in MTNL cable theft case

New Delhi, July 20 (Agency) Three persons, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Delhi Police, were arrested for their alleged involvement in MTNL cable theft case in East Delhi’s Vasundhara Enclave area, police said on Wednesday. Two persons, identified as Munnabar Ali (40), resident of Jafarabad, Delhi and Mohammad Asif (24), resident of LNJP Colony, Mahrana Ranjeet Singh Road in Delhi, were arrested from the site and a case under appropriate Sections has been registered, said Delhi Police.

An Assistant Sub-Inspector, identified as Arjun Prasad, presently posted in Security Unit of Delhi Police, was also arrested for his alleged involvement in the case, it added. According to police, on the intervening night of July 17 and 18, police received information at Special Staff of East District regarding some persons stealing the MTNL cables in Vasundhara Enclave area. Acting on information, the team reached Vasundhara Enclave near Mod Apartment and found that some persons were loading pieces of MTNL cable on a pick-up van. Total 280 meters (140 meter of 1200 Pair and 140 meter of 400 Pair) of recovered cable and the pick-up vehicle have been seized.
