Puducherry, July 17(Agency) Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President A V Subramanian on Sunday said that India was pushed to 164th place in economic development and the country’s development is in minus under the tenure of Narendra Modi. In a statement here, Subramanian said the value of Indian Rupee against the US Dollar crossed Rs.80 and economic experts opined that India is heading towards a Sri Lankan situation. Prim Minister Narendra Modi had sold out all revenue generating government institutions to some corporates of Gujarat, he alleged. He said levying of new taxes and enhancement of existing taxes will continue in the country.
Even, neighbouring country Pakistan reduced petrol and diesel prices as the price of crude oil came down in the International market, the PCC President pointed out, adding that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre failed to reduce the prices, resulting in the hike of prices of all commodities. The people of the country should understand that the NDA government is “cheating” the people by helping the corporates and doing harm to the country. Subramanian said the N R Congress-BJP government in the Union Territory could not get funds from the Centre to steady the economic problems. Puducherry is going to affect severely, if the Centre stops the provision of GST compensation from this year, he added.
