64 child labourers rescued from Delhi

New Delhi, July 14 (Agency) Around 64 child labourers were rescued from different parts of the national capital on Thursday in a joint operation of the Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) of Hauz Khas and Saraswati Vihar; activists of NGOs; Labour department and Delhi Police. These children were working as labourers in garages, hotels and other commercial establishments in different parts of Delhi, a statement from the Bachpan Bachao Andolan said.

The rescue operations were conducted at Saket, Savitri Nagar & Malaviya Nagar areas of South Delhi and Saraswati Vihar in North West Delhi. The rescued children, aged between 12 and 17 years, hail from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Bihar. The process of registering the case under relevant provisions of the Child Labour Act and the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act is being done, it added.
