Puducherry, July 12 (FN Agency) Communist Party of India (Marxist) politburo member G Ramakrishnan on Tuesday said the BJP-led government at the Centre has imposed an undeclared emergency in the country. Talking to news persons here, Ramakrishnan said that the BJP is showing an ”autocratic” attitude for single party rule even in opposition ruled states. The BJP had allegedly toppled the governments in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra and formed the party governments. He alleged that in Puducherry the BJP is running parallel politics with Lt.Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan.
Even though, a NR Congress-BJP coalition government is in office in the Union Territory, its misdeeds have increased considerably, he added. Proper attention was not paid on the Health Department after the Covid pandemic resulting in a medical emergency in Karaikal with the outbreak of Cholera, the CPI-M politburo member said. The slackness on the part of the government in Covid management clearly proves that it is an ‘inefficent’ government, he alleged.
Ramakrishnan said free ration rice was stopped and announced cash in place of rice. But presently, there is no rice or cash and the ration shops were closed. The students were not provided with uniform, text books and bus facility, the CPI-M leader said, adding that the SC students were not given scholarships also. The party would organize an agitation in front of the education department on July 14 to condemn the attitude of the government. For the failure to provide free ration rice and on other issues, CPI(M) would picket the Chief Secretariat here on July 20, he said.
