New Delhi, June 26 (Agency) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the Central government is working on a massive scale for the complete eradication of drug trafficking. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have coordinated and institutionalised the fight against drugs. For this, ‘Narco Coordination Mechanism’ has been established under the aegis of the ‘Narcotics Control Bureau’ (NCB) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), whose purpose is to establish coordination between all agencies, so that we can get complete success in curbing drugs smuggling,” Shah said in his message on the occasion of ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking’.
He said that NCB is playing an active role in the war against drugs at the national level, which is bringing successful results. The Home Minister further said his Ministry has adopted a ‘zero’ tolerance policy against narcotics. “Drug abuse not only makes society hollow, and money earned from drugs smuggling is also a big threat to national security. I am sure that the collective efforts of NCB and all the stakeholders will lead to the desired success,” he said. Let us all contribute our bit in the fulfillment of Modi’s resolve of ‘Drugs Free India’, he appealed.
