Hyderabad, June 19 (Representative) Hyderabad’s Ashirwad Saxena on Saturday secured Asian Bronze Medal in the 28th Junior Asian Track Cycling Championships which is currently underway in New Delhi. In a release here, Telangana Cycling Association General Secretary Mr K.Dattatreya said “I am very glad to inform you that Ashirwad of Telangana state secured Bronze Medal in 4000 meters Team Pursuit of Junior Category of 41st Senior at 28Th Junior Asian Track Cycling Championship at New Delhi.
He is a promising Cyclist of Our State Telangana and also the first-ever medal winner of the junior category so far,” he said. Being a boy from the Old City of Hyderabad, Ashirwad has been concentrating on cycling events for the last four years. Indian team coach Mr. VN Singh identified his talent during the national championship and selected him to join the Indian Coaching camp.
“Under his guidance and coaching, the 16-year-old boy achieved this glory for our country and our state,” Dattatreya added. The Cyclist from Telangana had secured silver and bronze medals in the National Track Cycling Championship held in the past at Jaipur. Student of 11th standard, Ashirwad took to professional cycling three years back and has been performing well since then. Meridian School, Banjara Hills and Shalibunda Cycling Club played a very important role in the winning spree of young cyclist Ashirwad.
