New Delhi, June 16 (Agency) The 47th meeting of the GST Council will be held on June 28-29, 2022, in Srinagar, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s office announced on Thursday. ‘The 47th meeting of the GST Council will be held on June 28-29, 2022 (Tuesday & Wednesday) in Srinagar,’ the office tweeted. Issues like a report of the panel of state ministers on rate rationalisations, GST on casinos, race courses, online gamings are among those likely to be discussed in the meeting.
According to reports, the meeting may also take up the issue of compensation as many non-BJP states are demanding that the GST compensation mechanism be extended beyond five years which is ending this month. Last year the Council had set up a 7-member panel of state ministers to suggest ways to increase revenue by rationalisation of tax rates. The panel, headed by Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, had met in November last year.
