Delhi govt to provide skill training to workers in un-organised sector

New Delhi, June 9 (FN Agency) The Delhi government on Thursday announced that it will provide skill training to the workers employed in organised sector. A special training program has been designed by the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) for this, the office of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia informed in a statement. The decision to launch the special training program for workers in the unorganised sector was taken in a meeting between Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, it added. Under this program, these workers will be first identified through various sources like construction board databases, associations and district magistrate offices and then they will be given a certificate training course by DSEU.

Along with this, tool kits and uniforms related to their work will also be given to all the workers. The workers employed in the unorganised sector who will be benefitted with the scheme include plumbers, electricians, blacksmiths, potters, shoemakers, laundry workers etc. Along with increasing the income of labourers, the main objective of this upskilling project is to further improve the skills of the people in the unorganized sector and connect them with the target groups, Sisodia’s office said. Meanwhile, in the next phase of this project, the city government also informed that it has planned to launch a centralised portal where details of all these trained workers and users of their services would be kept and would be accessible by the public.
