CBI arrests garrison engineer for accepting bribe

New Delhi, June 9 (Agency) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Garrison Engineer posted at Morar Cantonment of Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior for allegedly accepting a bribe, the probe agency said on Thursday. A case was registered against the accused on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs 4.20 lakh (5 percent of awarded work of Rs 84 lakh) in connection with special repair to building and provision for a covered shed, CBI said. The accused has been identified as Dhananjay Prasad Chaturvedi, garrison Engineer at Morar Cantonment in MP’s Gwalior.

The accused had allegedly threatened the complainant to face consequences, if the demanded alleged bribe was not given to him, the CBI added. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while he was allegedly accepting the bribe of Rs 50,000. Searches were conducted at the residential and office premises of the accused at Gwalior and Santkabir Nagar of Uttar Pradesh which led to recovery of incriminating documents, cash of Rs 9.6 lakh and documents related to land plots at Lucknow and Noida.
