Hindu seer ends fast, says will launch nationwide campaign

Varanasi, June 8 (Agency) Head of Sri Vidya Mutt Swami Avimukteshwaranand on Wednesday called off his four-day-long indefinite fast after being directed by his guru Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati of Dwarka Sharda Peeth.Avimukteshwaranand broke his indefinite fast after 108 hours on the sixth day today. Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati directed him to end his fast and Swami Avimukteshwaranand said that he will follow the instructions of his guru. He has lost around five kg in weight during fasting. Avimukteshwaranand said now he will launch a nationwide campaign for worshipping lord Adi Visheshwara located in the Gyanvapi mosque complex.

Notably, the head of the Sri Vidya Mutt sat on indefinite fast after being stopped from going to Gyanvapi mosque complex by police in front of his Vidya Mutt on June 4. He is in home custody now. On Tuesday Avimukteshwaranand said he will send an application to the District Magistrate that will ask that under which provision of the law he has been kept under house arrest. Avimukteshwaranand said he is on an indefinite fast from the last 93 hours without food or water and demanded that he should be allowed to perform worship and serve food to the deity Adi Visheshwara. The head of Vidya Mutt said he will first send a notice to the DM and if he will not get a proper reply then will move the Supreme Court as to why he is being kept under house arrest and will also seek a permission to worship. He alleged that heavy police force has been deployed around Sri Vidya Mutt and it is not allowing him to go anywhere.
