Jalandhar, May 30 (FN Agency) Former international player and coach of the Indian badminton team, which won the Thomas Cup for the first time in 73 years, Vijay Deep Singh was honored by District Deputy Commissioner and DBA head Ghanshyam Thori on his arrival in Jalandhar on Saturday. Mr. Thori said that the winning team of Thomas Cup has brought glory to Indian badminton all over the world. The credit for this goes to the excellent coaching of coach Vijay Deep and the hard work of the players. He said the Indian badminton team created history by winning the Thomas Cup.
During this, coach Vijay Deep Singh also shared exciting moments related to Thomas Cup with DC Ghanshyam Thori. DC provided National Champion (Under 19) Abhinav Thakur Rs 21 thousand on behalf of DBA and also said all possible help will be given to him in future also. He encouraged Abhinav to concentrate fully on the game. Before meeting DC Ghanshyam Thori, coach Vijay Deep Singh also visited Raizada Hansraj Stadium and gave badminton tips to the players. Coach Vijaydeep Singh said the facilities being provided to the players at Hansraj Stadium are the best in the whole of North India and for this the DBA team deserves congratulations. Vijaydeep was impressed by the infrastructure of Hansraj Stadium. District Badminton Association (DBA) secretary and former national player Ritin Khanna was also present on the occasion.
