Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order sequel on next gen devices only

New Delhi, May 27 (Agency) In what could be a rather disappointing news for many expectant gamers, the sequel to EA and Respawn’s highly successful ‘Star Wars:Jedi Fallen Order’ won’t be available on last gen consoles. The sequel is likely to be called “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” but additional details are not unavailable yet. The Fallen Order sequel will only be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Given a lot of people are yet to obtain the new consoles, this is a notable move. Many developers, including Sony’s first-party teams, are trying to ensure their new games work on old consoles like PS4 in order to ensure that the new next gen titles are accessible to everyone. Not only is this done to try and make sure fans have the opportunity to play them, but also likely to ensure a better profit margin.

The closest EA has ever gotten to creating a full on Dark Souls like experience is when they released Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. The game was a breath of much needed fresh air after the disaster that was Battle Front 2 which had a bunch of problems. Respawn Entertainment, which worked on Fallen Order is once again leading the production and development of the game alongside a slate of other projects. Respawn has reportedly been working on the sequel just some time after the release of Fallen Order. Virtually almost no story related details or even gameplay details have been leaked by Respawn as they are keeping a tight lid on things, though pieces of information do manage to creep in from various sources, be they official or unofficial.

While there can’t be much to be expected from the sequel, there are a few features that fans want which are related to both gameplay and the story. From the purpose of storytelling, in order to maintain continuity the story ought to continue the journey of Cal Kestis who is now a much stronger Jedi Knight as well as further explore new topics such as the dichotomy of the light and the dark side of the Force and maybe add a connection between New Hope and the Obi Wan Kenobi series with focus on building the Rebellion. Above all, as the probable name suggests, the game might focus more on the Jedi survivors of Order 66. From a gameplay perspective, the original needed much improvement despite of being far more different from a standard EA game. While the environments are good, the game needs to add more exploration and give less emphasis on platforming, add better collectables and a better outfit, because the poncho certainly does not work. Another thing that Respawn needs to improve is the lightsaber combat, while good it needs some better moves including some more prequel like combos. Furthermore, the range of Force powers should be like Jedi Academy with the player being able to alternate smoothly between the light and the dark side of the Force as each mission progresses.
