New Delhi, May 22 (FN Representative) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reducing the prices of petroleum products. Addressing the media here, the Chief Minister said the subsidy of Rs 9.5 in petrol prices, Rs seven in diesel and Rs 200 per cylinder to the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme will reduce the cost of cooking and give relief to the common man. Replying to a question, Khattar said that Haryana stands first in sports. Today, PM Modi, while interacting with woman player Unnati, has appreciated Haryana. The state government is constantly making efforts to make Haryana progress in sports.
Be it giving prize money to the players or giving them jobs, they are constantly being encouraged, he added. Stating that Haryana received the privilege to host Khelo India Youth Games this year, the Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for giving the state this opportunity. He said the Birth Anniversary of Maharishi Kashyap will be celebrated in Karnal. For this, a state level programme is being organised. “We have announced that the thoughts of great men should reach the society, they should be propagated and for this, the state government will celebrate their birth anniversaries,” he added. Next month, the birth anniversary of Bhagat Kabir will be celebrated in Rohtak. In the past also, Prakash Parv of Dr Ambedkar, Shri Ravidas and Sikh Gurus have been celebrated.
In future also, the birth anniversary of other great men will be celebrated in the same way, Khattar said. Responding to another question, he said the governments should work for the public interest. Works of public interest are being done with the available resources with the state government. He added that in order to provide employment to those who have low income in the society, education and skills are being imparted to them, so that they move towards self-employment. “We do not believe in sit-down policy, but in stand-up policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today, we are working on a plan to make people stand on their feet by providing employment,” claimed Khattar.
