Telangana students clinch medals at WSGs in Paris

Hyderabad, May 20 (Representative) Ravi Kiran and Mayavathi from Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) proved their mettle at the World School Games held in Paris. In a first the TSWREIS students, Ravi Kiran from Sheikpet Sports Academy clinched gold medal, while Mayavathi from Dindi Sports academy bagged bronze medal in 200 mts event in the French capital. The event witnessed huge competition from school students all over the world.

Secretary TSWREIS Ronald Rose congratulated the medalists and said “this is a moment of great pride and honour for the state Telangana to see that such a young boy and a girl from very poor backgrounds clinched medals in international competition”. He gave full credit to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and the Mister Koppula Eshwar for sanctioning 28 sports academies. The TSWREIS runs 28 Sports Academies under the supervision of coaches of national repute to groom and build a new generation of sportspersons from the marginalized communities to represent the country in the international arena, Rose said.
