Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), May 8 (Agency) In another instance highlighting the positive influence of the Chhattisgarh dispensation’s rehabilitation scheme, four rebels have surrendered in this restive district of Left-wing extremism-affected Bastar division, Police said on Sunday that the Malangir Area Committee’s Domarpara Militia members Sudru Madkami, Deva Markam, Sanna Lekami and Sukka Madwi – who were also disillusioned with Maoist ideology – capitulated to CRPF DIG Vinay Kumar and SP Siddharth Tiwari late Saturday.
The foursome were part of the insurgency for the past seven to eight years and allegedly involved in many incidents including abduction; assault; arson; extortion; damage to schools, ashrams and roads. Cases are registered against them at Kuakonda Police Station. Under the Lon Varratu campaign, 535 ultras – including 128 on whom rewards were announced – have returned to the mainstream.
