Mumbai, May 6 (Agency) The BSE Sensex on Friday slumped 866.65 pts, below 55K level to close at 54,835.58 on heavy selling in Realty, Metal, Materials, IT and Consumer Durable stocks amid weak global peers. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too slipped 271.40 pts at 16,411.25 The sensex fell by 774 pts to open at 54,928.29. During the day, it was tanked 1216 pts at 54,586.71, days low before closing at 54,835.58 down 866.65 pts from its previous close.
The sensex registered days high and low at 55,070.12 and 54,586.71 pts respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 16,484.20 and 16,340.90 respectively. The Mid Cap declined by 2.06 pc and Small Cap by 2.10 pc. In 30 scrips, 6 advanced while 24 declined. The equity market was heavily down following a global market rout fearing a faster rate hike, threatening the world economies. The Asian Market slipped with Australia by 2.25 pc, China by 2.16 pc, Hong Kong by 3.67 pc and Taiwan by 1.72 pc.
