CBI arrests three including IRP in alleged bribery case

New Delhi, May 5 (Agency) Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three people including an Interim Resolution Professional (IRP), National Law Tribunal (NCLT), Mumbai in an alleged bribery case, the probe agency said on Thursday. The accused have been identified as Subrata Maity (IRP), Ashish Somani (a private person) and Ruchit Tanka (proprietor of Mumbai based firm), CBI spokesperson said. A case was registered on complaint against IRP and unknown others on the allegations of demanding undue advantage of Rs 20 lakh for settling the NCLT matter of the complainant’s company.

The accused allegedly demanded an initial part payment of Rs 2 lakh, out of the total demand of Rs 20 lakh from the complainant and told him that a private person would come to collect the amount at Pune, CBI said. CBI laid a trap and caught the private person while he was allegedly accepting the initial part payment of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant. Later, the IRP and the proprietor whose alleged role came in the case were also caught. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused at Pune and Navi Mumbai which led to recovery of incriminating documents. All the three accused were produced in the Court on Thursday.
