New Delhi, May 4 (Representative) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India’s achievements in every sphere – whether it be welfare measures for its people, its vaccination drive, free healthcare, housing and sanitation – are achievements not just for the country but for one fifth of humanity, which impact the world positively. In an address to an ecstatic Indian community in Copenhagen, attended by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in a special gesture, PM Modi also touched on India-Danish cooperation in the field of climate action. He said that 21st century India is going forward with the vision that the world is one community. “Whatever India is achieving today it is an achievement not just for India but is that of one fifth of humanity” – referring to India’s 1.35 billion population. Referring to the country’s vaccination drive, he said: “Just think if India had not reached vaccination to every Indian imagine what effect it would have on the world. “If India had not worked on cheap, effective and made in India vaccines and not scaled up the production, then imagine the state of many nations in the world” – in reference to the vaccination drive and vaccine production. In another reference to India’s global impact, he said when India brings out its citizens from poverty then there is less of poverty in the world; when the poor get housing, sanitation, free health care, financial inclusion, then these benefits give the world new confidence, and also strengthen the SDGs, the PM said, as the Danish PM was seen nodding in agreement from her seat, and to cheers of “Modi, Modi” by the crowd.
Referring to India’s action in reducing carbon emissions, he said the distribution of the LED bulbs and setting up solar panels in India have strengthened the global fight against climate change. He said with the breaking of stereotypes and silos is taking the country to new heights. The Danish PM in her address said she was “very honoured to welcome my friend and PM Modi to Denmark. I am very happy that we are with you today, it shows how strong ties we have friendship and family”. She thanked all the Indians living and working in Denmark for making a real and positive contribution to Danish society. She said the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership is the first of its kind. “It is quite amazing that a small country like ours to have a Green Strategic Partnership with the great India,” she said, to cheering by the crowd. Referring to the Ukraine war, she said: “The war in Ukraine reminds us that democratic nations like India and Denmark must stand up for the principles and values we believe in.
We must also stand together to combat the climate crisis, and our Green Partnership is for that.” In his address, that was interspersed with enthusiastic Indians chanting “Modi, Modi” and “Modi hai to Mumkin Hai’, the PM referring to the global impact of positive developments in India, said: “When India’s strength increases then the world’s strength also increases”. He said as pharmacy of the world India helped the world with medicines, and the country works with the motto of helping humanity in times of crisis. “In the field of foodgrains, India has become self reliant, and we have offered to help the world with an open heart,” he said, in reference to the food security crisis in the world amid the Ukraine conflict with many countries turning to India for wheat. He said in the field of IT India’s capabilities have increased, and India helped the world in the time of the covid crisis “We are a big digital power, but we are sharing with the world,” he said. “India has the scale and speed and share and care values, and that is why to deal with global challenges, it is not just in our benefit to invest in India’s capacity but for the world,” he said. The PM said that with India becoming Atmanirbhar, and setting up self reliant supply chains, India is on way to becoming a trusted and reliable partner for the world.
