New Delhi, April 25 (Agency) Even as Congress looks ready to embrace Prashant Kishor, its key ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is not too amused by the overtures of the political strategist to reach out to its leadership. Kishor, popularly known as ‘PK’, has been lately engaged with the top Congress leadership which seems willing to include him in the party fold. Congress’ Acting President Sonia Gandhi and some other top leaders of the party are believed to be hoping that PK’s entry would help strategise the party’s revival. While being engaged with the Congress leadership, Kishor also made overtures to NCP by meeting its leader Supriya Sule, daughter of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, some time back, sources told UNI. Kishor met Sule in Delhi and also in Mumbai, they said. The sources said Sule and PK had only general discussions about the political scenario in the country and there was no talk about his involvement with the NCP. “Kishor met Supriya twice and had general discussion on political affairs in the country but the meeting remained limited to that only.
Our senior leadership is not very convinced about the gains party can have by engaging PK,” a source said. However, Pawar has not met Kishor, as speculated in the media, the source said, suggesting that the Maratha strongman does not consider it important to meet him. There is a view in the NCP that PK is certainly an intelligent and smart person who talks with a lot of data and statistics to support his views, but the party is not too keen to do business with him. Kishor is currently having marathon meetings with top leaders of the Congress Party and presenting to them a strategy to revive the party and substantially improve its tally in the 2024 General Elections. He has been reported to have expressed his willingness to join the party and lead from the front in upcoming state elections. Prashant Kishor has run several successful election campaigns for various political parties like BJP, TMC, JD (U) and YSR Congress led by Jagan Mohan Reddy. He is considered top political strategist in the country. Notably, he is credited with playing a major role in strategising for BJP during 2014 General Elections.
