Pune, Apr 24 (FN Agency): In India traditionally “Health” was a neglected sector but in the last two years due to Covid it has come to the centre stage. Not only the policy makers but also the ordinary people have realised the value of the health sector because of Covid said Dr. Raman Gangakhedkar, CG Pandit National Chair, ICMR. Dr. Raman Gangakhedkar was invited as the Chief Guest for the “Valedictory Session” of the Symhealth 2022- A National Conference on,” Transforming Healthcare: Symbiosing with Allied and Healthcare Professionals” organized by Faculty of Health Sciences at Symbiosis International University (SIU), Lavale, Pune here today. Around 1000 plus healthcare professionals from diverse verticals of the healthcare sector including Hospital & Healthcare Management professionals, Medico Legal consultants, Medical technologists and paramedics, Clinical research professionals, therapists (Physio/Occupational/Behavior), pharmacists, representatives of civil society and regulatory bodies were participated in “Symhealth 2022”.
Speaking at the “Valedictory Session”, Dr. Gangakhedkar said, now in our country we have one of the best medicines, we have developed Health Apps, Molecular Tests are performed even at the district level and these are some of the biggest achievements in the health sector. We all must understand that the Covid has not gone yet. A totally new CoronaVirus may come in the immediate future. Due to Covid we have lost track of other contagious diseases like Tuberculosis (TB). With this regard now the new strategies will be tried and those will be monitored every week by the government. Covid has brought Health to the centre stage. A huge amount of money has been spent on Covid. Now, we have to advocate people for Health to remain at the centre stage for some time from now. We all must come together to see the brighter future of health outcomes, Dr. Gangakhedkar added further. The sessions, talks during the two days of the conference fired the imagination of the people, it has enhanced the ability to think, it helped in setting up new goals, and all the talks in the “Symhealth 2022” were futuristic Dr. Gangakhedkar praised Symhealth 2022. Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, Founder & President Symbiosis and Chancellor, Symbiosis International University in his presidential address spoke about the multiple pathies like Allopathy, Homeopathy, Ayurveda etc. that usually create confusion into the minds of the common people. Common person’s only concern is that someone should cure me irrespective of the pathies. Now we should break the walls between the pathies and need to bring them together. In my opinion the best pathy is “Sympathy”.
There is a need for a “College of Liberal Medicine” or an “Institute of Integrated Medicine” with all the pathies in action, advocating CUROPATHY along with SYMPATHY in our country. In our country the Nurses are underestimated for all these years. They are low paid and do not have social status. During Covid times they have proved everybody wrong by contributing immensely in the treatment of Covid Patients. More than the Doctors, Nurses have handled the Covid patients very well. We not only need reform but a revolution in the medicine sector. “Symhealth 2022” was a consequence of Hon. Prime Minister Mr. Modiji’s directives of an integrated approach of treating people while inaugurating Symbiosis “Arogya Dham ”, Dr. S.B. Mujumdar added further. Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar, Dean Faculty of Health Sciences, Symbiosis International University gave opening remarks, thanked all the delegates coming from all over India and overseas and appealed all to have a 360 degree approach, complimenting all the faculties of healthcare including allied healthcare for a better patient outcome. Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Principle Director, Symbiosis, Pro- Chancellor, , Symbiosis International University, Dr. Rajani Gupte, Vice- Chancellor, , Symbiosis International University were present on the occasion.
