New Delhi, April 6 (Bureau) “The Kashmir Files” has been grabbing majority of the spotlight in India since its release and has become a topic of discussion among both the public and the political circles. Alongside the Telugu movie, “RRR” the film has also been doing immensely successful business at the box office having outshone every Bollywood release since its release. In another victory for the film and director Vivek Agnihotri, the film has been presented with a citation by the Ohio State Senator Niraj Atani honouring the film acknowledging the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus in the 1990s. The citation read : “On behalf of the members of the Senate of the 134th General Assembly of Ohio, we are pleased to extend recognition to Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri on the premier of you film The Kashmir Files. “The writer and director of The Kashmir Files, you are deserving of high praise for you have a special gift that has, no doubt, brought joy to those with whom you have shared your talents,” says the citation, which is jointly signed by Senator Matt Huffman, president of the Ohio Senate and Atani. “Indeed, you have sought to craft a film with universal appeal that speaks to a matter of great historical importance, the forced exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits and you can be justifiably proud of your accomplishments.
“Your inspiring vision and sophisticated artistry have enabled you to contribute something of precious and enduring value, and you can be assured that your creative talents are of enormous pride to your family and friends who have supported you along the way, the citation says. “It is our sincere hope that you will continue to find personal fulfillment while entertaining, enlightening and inspiring others with your craft. “Thus, with genuine satisfaction, we congratulate you for outstanding achievement and offer best wishes for future success.” Vivek Agnihotri took to Twitter and shared a snap of the citation and proceeded to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the abrogation of Article 370. He wrote: “GRATITUDE:On behalf of the entire #TheKashmirFiles team and our audiences I thank State Of Ohio Senate for this honour. The world is recognising the GENOCIDE of Kashmiri Hindus and India’s great value of humanity. Thank you @narendramodi for the abrogation of article 370 (sic).” Since its release, the movie has received great support from the public though polarizing reception from media, critics, academia and politicians and is currently a hotly debated topic in the country.
