Panaji, April 1 (FN Agency) ‘Remo: The Autobiography of Remo Fernandes’ was launched at Taj Fort Aguada in North Goa recently. The celebrated Goan singer who divides his time between Portugal and Goa with wife ZeniaFernandes, is currently immersed in a pan-India book launch tour. Commencing the series of events in Kolkata, he also went on to Delhi and Bangalore before hosting the event at his native city. While in conversation with Vivek Menezes, co-founder of Goa Arts and Literature Festival, the renowned singer said his early days in the music industry were comprised of filling the corridors of Taj Fort Aguada with his melodious tunes in the mid-70s. Talking about the momentous occasion, Anmol Ahluwalia – Cluster General Manager, Taj North Goa said, “Remo and his music has been soulful, uplifting and deeply mesmerizing.
It is delightful for us to have hosted this in association with Harper Collins.” The chief guest for the evening, Jnanpith Award winning novelist Damodar Mauzo said, “Writing about yourself is the toughest form of writing there is.” The autobiography, described as a “historic and literary treasure” by Vivek Menezes, is also accompanied by an original soundtrack which delves into the writing process by Remo. Giving the audience a glimpse of the song “Fly Away”, Remo also performed a melody of his greatest hits for guests who revealed in the fun on the dancefloor. Supported by familiar faces and family, the evening was nostalgia inducing for all those present. The event was attended by the likes of Marusha and Mac Vaz, Anthony de Sa, Natasha and Joaquim Monteiro, Maryanne Cordeiro, Lucia and Sigmund Dsouza and Jacinta Valladares.
