Islamabad, March 22 (Representative) In the wake of no-confidence motion against Imran Khan, Pakistan’s Opposition parties have predicted the Prime Minister would become “former” PM this month. Sindh Information and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani has “advised” Imran Khan to bring with him just 172 MNAs to save his government instead of holding a one-million rally at D-Chowk in Islamabad. The News International quoted the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader as saying on Monday that the PM did not command the confidence of the majority of MNAs and the ruling party had used the upcoming OIC conference merely as a pretext to delay the session of the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice-president Maryam Nawaz has refuted claims that she will be the next PM if the no-trust vote succeeds and said Shehbaz Sharif will be party’s candidate. She said, “Imran Khan! Your game is over.” Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has officially “broken up”, she said, adding that joint opposition will sit and decide on the appointment of the next candidate for prime minister, ARY News reported. “Only God knows who will be elected as the new prime minister but for PML-N it will be Shehbaz Sharif,” she added.
The National Assembly session will be convened on March 25 by Speaker of the Lower House of the Parliament Asad Qaiser following no-confidence motion filed against Prime Minister Imran Khan by the opposition parties on March 8. According to ARY News, the opposition has decided to hold a show of power on the first day of the National Assembly session while PTI has planned public gathering in Islamabad on March 27.
