Guwahati, Mar 21 (FN Representative) The budget session of the Assam Legislative Assembly will begin on March 14, 2022. Budget session was held in response, the king’s media has been disseminating the news to the public. In this case, the state’s micro-newsletters are no exception. Such limited circulation newspapers have played an important role in the news world of Assam. It has also been playing a pivotal role as the fourth pillar of democracy in the Assam Legislative Assembly. It is noteworthy that for the current budget session, the entry of journalists in the assembly has become a major problem for the entry of reporters from small newspapers.
It is to be noted that there is a Press Reporters Committee which was approved by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly to enter the assembly hall. This committee is selected into the issue of issuing Press Gallery Passes to journalists. This time around, serious allegations have been made against the association for depriving journalists of their rights. The president and secretary of the Press Reporters Committee of ALA have been accused of depriving petty grandchildren of their fair share under the guise of lobby-centric politics. After repeated requests by the small news papers, the committee did not include its own membership and did not include any representative of the small newspapers in its membership. What is the secret behind this is now being questioned among the journalists and news correspondents associated with the small newspapers.
It is pertinent to note that the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly as well as the Chief Minister of the State and the Minister of Public Relations have provided sufficient support for the rescue in the small news papers. However, it is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. On the whole issue, the reporters of the small newspapers outlet have informed that they will soon take up the matter with the Hon’ble High Court against Mr Bhaben Dutta, President, and MR Horen Buragohain Secretary of the Press Reporters Committee of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
