Japanese PM Kishida visiting India for summit meeting with PM Modi

New Delhi, March 17 (Agency) Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will be travelling to India for the annual bilateral summit meeting with PM Narendra Modi on Saturday that will provide an opportunity for both sides to review and strengthen the bilateral cooperation in diverse areas. This will be the first in person meeting of the two leaders. At the invitation of Prime Minister Modi, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio will be undertaking an official visit to New Delhi from March 19-20 for the 14th India-Japan Annual Summit.

The Japanese PM will be arriving on Saturday afternoon, after which he will head straight to Hyderabad House for the summit meeting with PM Modi. He will attend a business event following the talks, after which both sides will exchange agreements and press statements. He will depart early Sunday morning. India and Japan have multi-faceted cooperation within the ambit of their ‘Special Strategic and Global Partnership’. The Summit will provide an opportunity for both sides to review and strengthen the bilateral cooperation in diverse areas as well as exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest so as to advance their Partnership for peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond, an official statement said. The two sides had held their last summit meeting on September 23 in Washington, on the sidelines of the Quad summit. PM Modi and then Japanese PM Yoshihide Suga had held the summit meeting, in what was their first in-person meeting.
