Dubai, March 16 (FN Agency) India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah made a significant gain in the latest ICC Test Rankings released on Wednesday. He jumped up six spots to attain the fourth place with 830 rating points. Bumrah, who bagged eight wickets including his maiden Test five-for at home in the second Test between India and Sri Lanka in Bangalore, leapfrogged Shaheen Afridi (Pakistan), Kyle Jamieson (New Zealand), Tim Southee (New Zealand), James Anderson (England), Neil Wagner (South Africa) and Josh Hazlewood (Australia) in the table. Pat Cummins (Australia), Ravichandran Ashwin (India) and Kagiso Rabada (South Africa) have retained the top three spots respectively.
Another Indian speedster, Mohammed Shami, climbed up a spot to replace compatriot Ravindra Jadeja to the 17th spot. In the batting charts, ex-skipper Virat Kohli has slipped from fifth to ninth place while his fellow Indian Rishabh Pant was placed on the 10th spot in the table led by Marnus Labuschagne (Australia), followed by Joe Root (England), Steve Smith (Australia) and Kane Williamson (New Zealand). Shreyas Iyer took a giant leap after his match-winning 92 and 67 against Sri Lanka. He climbed up 40 spots to sit on the 37th position. In the all-rounders’ table, Jason Holder (West Indies) reclaimed the top spot, replacing Jadeja, who had risen to No.1 after his unbeaten 175 and nine wickets in the Mohali Test earlier this month. Ashwin, Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh) and Ben Stokes (England) are other players in top five.
